The Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) returned information in the profiles of Russian tennis players on the organization’s website a few hours after the removal, informs RIA Novosti.
On Monday, the organization removed photos and data about titles won, current rankings, prize money won and age from the profiles of tennis players from Russia. Tennis players are present in the WTA rankings, but there is no Russian flag opposite their names.
The IOC Executive Committee recommended that sports federations not allow Russian and Belarusian athletes to compete because of the situation in Ukraine. Athletes and teams from Russia and Belarus can only participate as neutral athletes.
At the moment, the highest position in the WTA ranking among Russian tennis players is occupied by Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova – 14th place. Also in the top hundred are Veronika Kudermetova (24), Daria Kasatkina (26), Lyudmila Samsonova (32), Ekaterina Aleksandrova (50), Varvara Gracheva (71) and Anna Kalinskaya (86).
