Chelsea head coach Thomas Tuchel spoke about the performance of goalkeeper Edouard Mendy ahead of the Champions League second leg against Lille.
“He is a great guy with a strong character and very humble. I think everyone at Chelsea, including the fans, wants him to succeed because he gives everything to the team. He plays a key role and we are very pleased with his development. Mendy has been exceptional since I took over at Chelsea,” Tuchel said on the official UEFA website.
This season, 30-year-old Mendy has made 33 appearances for the team in all competitions, conceding 20 goals.
The first meeting in the Champions League ended with a score of 2:0 in favor of Chelsea. The second leg will be held in France on March 16 and will start at 23:00 Moscow time.
