The organizers of the French Open Tennis Championship said that at the moment Russian players will be able to take part in Roland Garros, RIA Novosti reports with reference to AP.
When asked whether Russian tennis players, including world number one Daniil Medvedev, would be allowed to participate in the tournament, the Roland Garros organizing committee said they would adhere to the decisions of the ATP and WTA on the admission of players from Russia and Belarus to tournaments as neutral athletes.
“We are sticking to that line,” said Amélie Oudéa-Castera, CEO of the French Tennis Federation.
Earlier, the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) and the Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) announced the admission of Russian athletes to competitions only in a neutral status.
Roland Garros in 2022 will be held from May 22 to June 5.
