Severstal director Nikolai Kanakov is not afraid that head coach Andrey Razin will leave the Cherepovets club at the end of the season.

“Razin is on a contract with us for another year – there is no talk at all. It will be purely his desire – whether he wants to leave or not. We have no fears that he will go somewhere,” Kanakov said.

A number of team leaders – defender Nikolai Timashov, forwards Nikita Guslistov and Daniil Vovchenko – have contracts until the end of April this year.

“They are all restricted free agents, no one can leave on their own. Only for compensation,” Kanakov said.

Razin has been heading the club since 2018. Under his leadership, Severstal made it to the playoffs and on Saturday equalized the score in the 1/8 final series (3-3) with Dynamo Moscow, winning the sixth match in Cherepovets with a score of 3:2.
