President of the VTB United League Sergey Kushchenko spoke about the situation with basketball referees serving the tournament.
“Our matches are served only by Russian referees,” Sergei Kushchenko told Izvestia. – Those referees who worked at Euroleague and Eurocup matches cannot work in the United League yet. On the one hand, they are missing. Still, great referees also raise the quality of basketball. On the other hand, our referees, like young players, gain invaluable experience. The League has no doubts that there will be no complaints in terms of refereeing.
And when the situation calms down a bit, then I think we will be able to return foreign arbitrators with whom we have been cooperating for a long time.”
