Russian driver Alexander Smolyar took third place in the Formula 3 sprint race as part of the Bahrain Grand Prix.

Smolyar, who is neutral for the MP Motorsport team, started fifth and was able to win back two positions.

The winner of the race was the Frenchman Isac Hadjar from Hitech. He finished second but moved up to first after Prema’s Briton Oliver Beerman, who arrived in first place, was given a 5-second off-track penalty.

The sprint race in Bahrain was the first race of the 2022 season and the debut for Smolyar in MP Motorsport. The Russian spends his third season in Formula 3, the first two years he played for ART.

Tomorrow, March 20, the main Formula 3 race will take place as part of the Bahrain Grand Prix. The start is scheduled for 12.00 (Moscow time).
