Forward “Washington” Alexander Ovechkin commented on his record for the number of goals in the NHL among European hockey players and the third place in the number of goals scored in league history.

“Of course I’m happy. Firstly, I became the best European sniper in history, which is great. Overtaking legendary hockey players is history. It’s forever. Hopefully someone will break my records in the future.
Overtaking Jagr is a special event. I think if he had not left for the KHL at one time, he would have been in second place in the list of the best snipers in the league, and maybe he would have been in the lead, but that is what it is. As I said, I am happy that I became the best scorer in the history of the NHL among European and Russian hockey players. Jagr said he would come back and catch up with me? Fine!
I’m still playing, you never know what’s going to happen. I am pleased that I came out on the third place among the best scorers in the league, we have achieved this together with the team. If I can go higher, great, if this doesn’t happen, I’m still happy, ”Ovechkin said at a press conference.

In today’s game against the Islanders (4:3 B), Ovechkin scored his 767th NHL goal and set a new European record in the league, ahead of Jaromir Jagr (766). Wayne Gretzky holds the record for the most goals in NHL history with 894, followed by Gordie Howe with 801.
