Olympiacos head coach Georgios Bartzokas said he would not set high standards for the team in the new season.
“No one here will say that the team is striving to win the Euroleague. The competitive environment of the tournament has become very demanding. 15-16 teams can potentially reach the playoffs. Our mindset last year led us to finish the regular season in second place and advance to the Final Four. It would be a mistake to change our mentality and talk about winning the Euroleague this year. The first step is to get into the top eight, which is not an easy task in itself, ”the 57-year-old specialist quotes Eurohoops.
In the summer of 2022, Olympiacos announced a contract extension with Bartzokas until 2025.
The Greek specialist has been heading Olympiacos since 2020. In the 2021/22 season, he led the team to the Euroleague Final Four and was recognized as the best coach of the tournament.
