Russian tennis player Veronika Kudermetova failed to reach the second round of the WTA doubles tournament in Indian Wells (USA).
Kudermetova paired with Belgian Elisa Mertens lost to Japanese Eri Hozumi and Makoto Ninomiya – 3:6, 3:6. Note that Kudermetova and Mertens were the first seeds of the tournament.
In the second round, Hozumi and Ninomiya will play with the winner of the match Dayana Yastremska / Ivanna Yastremska (Ukraine) – Irina-Kamelia Begu / Monica Niculescu (Romania).
