Columbus are looking to sign forward Patrick Laine to a new long-term contract. However, negotiations between the parties have not yet begun, according to TFP.

Before the start of the current season, Laine accepted a qualifying offer from Columbus, signing a one-year, $7.5 million contract.

Laine was selected by the Winnipegs with the second overall pick in the 2016 draft. He scored at least 28 goals in his first four seasons in the NHL, including a career-high 44 in the 2017-18 season when he was second only to Washington Capitals forward Alexander Ovechkin (48).
